  • How can I make the most of the rest of my life?

Sacrificial Living

MEETS: Wednesdays  | 7pm | Old Cheney Campus
This seven week study is meant to help you think about God’s incredible love, His relationship to you, and how God’s love transforms every part of your life. About the Leader Al started attending Christ Place in 1972, while attending UNL, at that time Christ Place was a college ministry that would eventually become the congregation we know today. Al left his occupation as a construction estimator in 1977 and followed a call into full time ministry. Al and his wife Linda have been married for 45 years and have four grown children.

Getting to Know God
LEADER: Pastor Terry Brown
MEETS: Sundays | 9:30am | Old Cheney Campus
God is worshipped and perceived in many different ways by people. In some cases, people have created idols representing their understanding of God. While we think of only ancient people as doing such a thing, at times modern people do the same. This study will attempt to get to know the God that Jesus knew.

About the Leader- Terry has been a pastor and bible teacher since 1975. He was a Lead Pastor for 27 years in three different churches, and a staff pastor at four churches during his years of ministry.

The Life You've Always Wanted
LEADER: Judy Riddle
MEETS: Wednesdays | 7pm | Old Cheney Campus
The Christian life is about more than being forgiven, more even than making it to Heaven. The heart of Christianity is about transformation – about a God who isn’t just concerned with our “spiritual lives,” but who wants to impact every aspect of living. Ortberg’s book shows us that Christianity isn’t a matter of externals (an outer form that gets the church stamp of approval), but of Christ’s character becoming etched with ever-increasing depth into our own character.

About the Leader– Judy Riddle has served in ministry over 40 years with her husband, Brad. Her personal career path has been as a social worker, probation officer and administrator in Lincoln. She has been a women’s retreat speaker and taught both men’s and women’s classes at Christ Place. She enjoys reading, studying, and spending time with family!

We all go through difficult seasons in life, but you don’t have to face it alone. Our Connect Care Ministry offers groups, classes and individual support for you during these times.

One to One Ministry

We all experience challenges in life and times when we could benefit from the support of a caring christian friend. One to One Personal Care Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care you need when faced with a crisis or difficulty. It could be experiencing grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or some other life crisis.

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found that there are not many people who understand the deep hurt that you feel.

This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before.

“Going to GriefShare feels like having warm arms wrapped around you when you’re shivering.”

GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:

  • Video seminar with experts
  • Support group discussions with focus
  • Personal study and reflection

GriefShare is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend. We understand that there are other losses in life that create feelings of grief. You might be experiencing a job loss, a divorce, estrangement from a child, or even the loss of friends from a move. This grief is real, but is not the kind of grief discussed in GriefShare sessions.

Divorce Care

You don’t have to go through it alone.

Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before.

Divorce Care groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each session has two distinct elements:

  • A DVD Seminar with experts
  • A Support Group with focus

Marriage Mentor

Christ Place Church Marriage Mentors have a passion to empower couples to solve their own issues. Mentoring is unique in that it is effective for couples wanting to enrich their marriage and for couples in crisis. The role of the mentor is to mediate, teach Biblical truth and confront core issues. Mentors provide tools to teach communication skills, problem solving skills, parenting skills, as well as tools that can help couples agree on a family budget, and become comfortable discussing sexual issues. Christ Place Marriage Mentors are committed to maintaining confidentiality and trust in the mentoring relationship, however, it is not a replacement for clinical or pastoral counseling.
